In TRIS Forwarding declarants can send an electronic booking request directly from the system to the INTTRA, GT Nexus, ECU, CargoSmart, Porthus and other portal sites.

This offers many interesting possibilities for receiving the final digital B/L which is then archived automatically in the forwarder’s digital file.

Electronic booking

  • The customer sends a transport request to the forwarder, who updates it in his file and sends an EDI booking request to the web portal (1, 2, 3).
  • Once the necessary checks have been done (4, 5 and if applicable 6), the web portal sends the booking request to the shipping company, which then confirms or rejects it (8).
  • A confirmation message is sent from the web portal to the forwarder (9).
  • This message is automatically processed in TRIS Forwarding and updated with the following data: booking number, name of ship, ship’s route, ETD, ETA, pick-up & drop-off location, PIN code etc. (10). The forwarder then confirms the booking (11) with his customer.

EDI B/L

  • Once the ship has been loaded, the forwarder sends the updated B/L instructions to the web portal (2, 3).
  • Once the necessary checks have been done (4, 5 and if applicable 6), the web portal sends the booking request to the shipping company, which then processes the data into a draft B/L (8).
  • The draft B/L is sent from the web portal (9) to the forwarder, who either:
    • (12) makes corrections to it and begins communication steps 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 once more
    • or (16) confirms the draft directly to the shipping company.
  • The shipping company (17) then sends the final B/L to the forwarder (18) who in turn sends it to the customer (19).
